Presentation of the annual research residencies at Iméra, Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) of Aix-Marseille University

The most classical and widespread model of residency, it concerns residencies, lasting 5 or 10 months, of scientists and/or artists who are laureates of the annual general call for applications or of other calls for applications such as those led by the RFIEA, Réseau français des instituts d’études avancées, including the call for FIAS, programme of research residencies of the French Institutes for Advanced Studies.

Individual projects anchored in Iméra’s research programmes

Within this framework, the selected scientific projects are individual and are part of one of Iméra’s four research programmes and, in part, take shape within chairs co-financed and run with one of Iméra’s partners, whether they are national research organisations (Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD), Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), institutes from the Aix-Marseille academic site (Sciences Po Aix, Institute of Language, Communication and the Brain (ILCB), Institut Cancer et Immunologie (ICI), Aix-Marseille School of Economics (AMSE), etc. ) or cultural institutions (Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations (Mucem).

Internationalization of research

In accordance with Iméra’s mission of internationalisation of research, Iméra residents are affiliated with foreign institutions and/or art scenes, anywhere in the world. They must not have lived more than 12 months in France in the three years preceding their application. They are generally housed in one of the flats on the Iméra site, and may be hosted there with their families.
