Following the March edition in Marseille, the Franco-German Mediterranean Forum will take place on October 17-18, 2024, in Berlin, focusing on the theme “Opportunities and Perspectives in the Mediterranean Region.” Iméra, Aix-Marseille University’s Institute for Advanced Study, is a partner of this event, which will now also take place in Germany. This forum serves as a unique venue for exchange and debate on European and Mediterranean issues, annually gathering researchers, writers, philosophers, institutional representatives, students, journalists, and artists.
For this inaugural Berlin edition, the two days of debates and roundtables will be held at the French Embassy.
Opportunities and Perspectives in the Mediterranean Region
Europe Needs North Africa! With recent shifts in the global situation, the countries around the Mediterranean are becoming increasingly important economically and politically for Europe, especially for Germany and France, as the driving forces of the EU. Both countries seek to strengthen transnational exchanges and explore new perspectives. The forum, co-organized by the German Orient Institute and the French Embassy, will bring together high-level experts, thought leaders, scientists, entrepreneurs, politicians, and all interested parties to address, among others, the following questions:
- How can scientific exchanges be promoted?
- What opportunities does “near-shoring” offer for businesses?
- What can we learn from North Africa regarding renewable energies?
- How can digitalization help address urgent challenges?
- What will future transportation and logistics look like in the Mediterranean region?
