Iméra, the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) of Aix-Marseille University, aims to create a dynamic community of scientists and artists from all nationalities and disciplines, selected according to the highest international standards. The residents are by design the bearers of innovative projects at the crossroads of several scientific and artistic disciplines, which they will be able to develop in interaction with other residents and the scientific and socio-cultural ecosystem of the Aix-Marseille site.
A historical site
The Iméra is located on the site of the Observatory in Marseille, founded in the early 18th century. It is one of the world’s oldest astronomical institutions and has played a major role in the development of astronomy and astrophysics. Since its establishment in 2007, Iméra has hosted over 300 researchers and artists from various disciplines and geographic origins, selected according to the highest international standards.
