Digital tools: scientific education and cultural heritage mediation

Project summary

This project tackles the pedagogical issues specific to the mediation of cultural heritage and the constant use of Information and Communication Technologies: what digital tools should be built? How can these tools be evaluated? What kind of hybrid pedagogy should be developed? To do this, we’ve assembled our team and chosen our partners so as to cover all the disciplines needed to advance our work: computer scientists, teachers, heritage specialists, digitization experts, historians, archaeologists and students. We’ve been tackling these issues from a distance for the past four years, and now we’re looking forward to working together with cultural heritage specialists in a region that offers the wealth of tangible heritage needed for a hands-on confrontation. We’re presenting and sharing the digital tools we’ve created as part of the TSS project with specialists from outside the project, and putting them to the practical test with history and archaeology teachers and students. We’ll be gathering user feedback (tests and questionnaires) as well as the multidisciplinary experience of those involved in the study day, in order to offer enriched digital mediation tools.
