On Thursday, November 14, Ambra Zambernardi, resident at Iméra and researcher at the University of Turin, will participate in a panel to present her research on the heritage fishing of wild mullet in Sardinia. Her talk, titled “L’oro del Sinis,” will delve into sustainable fishing practices and natural resource management in Cabras, a village where mullet fishing holds cultural and economic significance. She will be speaking as part of the interdisciplinary study day on Mediterranean lagoon complexes, organized by UMR TELEMMe 7303 with support from the SoMuM Institute.

Daniel Faget, former resident of Iméra and researcher at UMR TELEMMe, will also join the event as a discussant alongside Thierry Perez from CNRS, to provide insights on the preservation and enhancement of Mediterranean fishing resources.

This study day, themed “Mediterranean Lagoon Complexes: Between Heritage Fishing and the Challenges of Global Change,” will highlight the major challenges these coastal ecosystems—shaped by centuries of aquaculture, industrialization, and tourism—now face due to climate change and rising sea levels. The event will showcase initiatives for depollution and natural habitat restoration, with a particular focus on revitalizing traditional fishing practices.

Location: MucemLab, Fort Saint-Jean, 13002 Marseille.
