Application and Residency Conditions 2025-26
The AMSE/Iméra chair “A World in Crisis” is open to researchers in economics, as well as the following disciplines, to the extent that the project allows for interactions with economics: biology and medicine, law, geography, history, mathematics, neuroeconomics, philosophy, statistics, political science, and sociology.
All research projects will be considered, particularly those that demonstrate a certain degree of risk-taking to initiate a particularly innovative project, as well as projects aiming to write a synthesis work. For example, Iméra/AMSE is particularly interested in projects focusing on networks, international trade, development, inequalities, big data, and historical perspectives on growth.
The holder of the “A World in Crisis” Chair is expected to pursue these research themes within a framework that intensifies cooperation between AMSE and Iméra and ensures sufficient visibility for the chair’s work through a series of public conferences.

Aix-Marseille School of Economics (AMSE) is labeled as a University Research School for a project of excellence in which the AMSE brings together research, teaching and development. The research program focuses on economic responses to a changing world. It is based on three pillars: the research center’s areas of methodological excellence (dynamic and quantitative macroeconomics, network theory, econometrics of time series / panel data), a new methodological area with high potential for teaching and research (Big Data), and the privileged geographical location in the Euro-Mediterranean basin. The AMSE offers training at master’s and doctoral levels, aimed at training generalist economists experienced in the use of quantitative methods. The AMSE also focuses on the promotion of research in economics for communities, administrations and businesses, and information for the general public.
