Research project

From management to self-management. A political genealogy of the company

Project summary

This research program proposes a study of the notion of entrepreneurship. The aim is to study entrepreneurship as a specific rationality which, on the one hand, places an individual at the center of risks in a market, and, on the other, presents itself as a managerial mastery of these risks, even calling upon a series of management instruments. While entrepreneurial rationality is becoming more widespread in the neoliberal era, we believe it is also distinct from neoliberal rationality in that it features an individual creator, but is constantly confronted with the question of the collective, implied by the notion of division of labor.

After developing this project through cycles of seminars at the Collège International de Philosophie (CIPHI), Paris between 2016 and 2018, a team residency at Iméra provides an opportunity for exchange and joint work with members of the ArTLib collective (Atelier de recherche Travail et Libertés).
