Tropique – possible worlds.
Project summary
Tropique is an environmental installation, a space empty of matter that becomes denser with sound and light waves, activated and modulated by human presence and activity. This project links the perception of space to movement, light and sound.
The aim is to create a space that reveals the movement of invisible, immaterial fluids, the displacement of air generated by the movement of bodies. The ambition is to share these questions with scientists in order to re-evaluate and orient the project in line with contemporary research. It is hoped that this creation will be able to serve as a subject for scientific research.
Etienne Rey is conducting his research for the “Tropique” project in partnership with neuroscience researcher Laurent Perrinet (Institut de neurosciences cognitives de la Méditerranée, CNRS, Université de la Méditerranée) and the Laboratoire de physique de la matière condensée (LPMC, CNRS, Université de Nice Sophia Antipolis).
Tropique won a call for projects from RAN (Réseau d’Art Numérique) and Mécènes du Sud. It is part of the Ateliers de l’Euroméditerranée (AEM) of Marseille-Provence 2013.
