Body schema distortion through audio-tactile stimulation
Project summary
Multisensory integration is a fundamental element of the audio-tactile project. The emission of sound by loudspeakers fixed to the skin stimulates both the body’s receptors, through the vibration of the loudspeaker, and the auditory system. By measuring the activity of the entire cerebral cortex using electroencephalography, and by asking individuals to transmit their perception, we will determine how it is possible to vary the parameters of auditory and cutaneous stimulation to modify their integration and the resulting perception. A deeper understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of cutaneous and auditory information integration will enable us to better master our original artistic creations based on sensory stimulation.
