Regina Hübner, artist in residence at Iméra in 2019, is exhibiting her work at the Carinthia Museum of Modern Art (Austria) from March 11th to May 31st, 2026.

"Dear..." by Regina Hübner

Dear…, a solo exhibition

This monographic exhibition presents stagings combining video, sound, objects, environment and performance. The body of work includes emblematic classics such as Dear Cell, as well as recent and previously unseen projects, including the world premiere of works created especially for the Carinthia Museum of Modern Art.

Dear Cell, an artistic project in collaboration with the CIML

The work Dear Cell is the result of Regina Hübner’s residency at Iméra, which took place in collaboration with the Centre d’Immunologie de Marseille-Luminy (CIML) from February to July 2019.

The artist’s large-format video installations feature images of scientists’ eyes, cells photographed under a microscope and letters, some of them handwritten, that greet visitors in the darkened room, drawing their attention. They convey an idea of the close, very personal relationship, the amorous encounters – precisely – that link scientists to the objects of their research.

The 17 scientists involved, affiliated with the Centre d’immunologie (CIML) and the Institut méditerranéen de neurobiologie (Inmed) in Marseille-Luminy, address their letters to the subjects of their research and compose their replies. In reading these letters, the reader enters a highly emotional and intimate sphere that contradicts the traditional cliché of a rational, cold and objective approach to scientific research.
