franco bonomi bezzo imera 2024

The ERC project “Deindustrialization of Societies and Political Consequences (DESPO)”, in collaboration with the University of Milan, INED, and the “LEST/Iméra: Worlds of Work” Chair, represented by Franco Bonomi Bezzo, is organizing a day of exploration focused on the socio-political challenges related to deindustrialization in France. This workshop will take place on Friday, November 15, 2024, at INED in Paris, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.

The event will bring together researchers and stakeholders from various fields to discuss the impacts of deindustrialization through presentations, discussions, and in-depth analyses. Franco Bonomi Bezzo, a key organizer and current resident at Iméra, the Institute for Advanced Study of Aix-Marseille University, will deliver the final observations of the day.

The workshop is open to the public and will also be accessible online.

The aim of this workshop is to gather scholars from different disciplines to explore how experiences of industrial decline in France—at the individual, family, and local community levels—shape civic engagement, political participation, and individual attitudes and behaviors throughout one’s life. It will focus on the long-term consequences of deindustrialization in France, covering a wide range of socio-economic determinants, geographic heterogeneity, and specific case studies.
