National and thematic approaches

This study day will consist of four presentations covering national and thematic approaches to the management of archives and public data.

  • Overview of public data in France by Clément De Belsunce, research engineer for the Aix Marseille Université Data Platform (PUD-AMU), as part of the PROGEDO project.
  • Current Issues of Access to American Government Data, talk given by Karen Nourse, Professor and Research and Data Librarian at Middle Tennessee State University in the United States, currently holder of the Franco-American Commission/Iméra Chair in Migration Studies.
  • Getting to know Algeria’s archives: from collecting heterogeneous information to making the most of it with Omeka S, talk by Thierry Guillopé, historian of cities, Algeria, the environment and archives.
  • Lifting the opacity of housing ownership in France: the benefits and limits of cross-referencing public data, a presentation by Antoine Peris, senior lecturer in geography at the Laboratoire Étude des Structures, des Processus d’Adaptation et des Changements de l’Espace (ESPACE).

About the PUD-AMU

The Aix Marseille Université Data Platform for Mediterranean Studies is located at the Maison Méditerranéenne des Sciences humaines et sociales (MMSH) in Aix-en-Provence.

The PUD-AMU is aimed at researchers, doctoral students and students in the Humanities and Social Sciences. It supports the scientific community in the research and use of quantitative data, its software processing and statistical analysis.

The specificity of the PUD-AMU is its expertise in quantitative data for the Mediterranean area.
