A collaboration between economics and history

Iméra aims to be a place of encounters and a place for collective emulation, thanks to interactions between residents and between fields of study. This is exactly what the connection between Harutaka Takahashi and Gerard Sasges embodies. Both residents for the 2022-2023 academic year, they were able to discuss and combine their respective fields, economics and history, to conduct new research.

Together, they co-wrote the article Assessing the influence of three policies on Vietnam’s economic development: Electricity infrastructure, globalization, and privatization during their residency. Their interdisciplinary collaboration continued beyond Iméra until publication.

About the publication

Combining the history of Vietnam and the study of its economic development, this research work assesses the contributions of three key policies – electricity infrastructure, globalisation and privatisation – to Vietnam’s economic development between 1980 and 2018.
