Research project
Study of impulsivity: an experimental and computational approach”.
Project summary
Team members have recently developed a new measure (Error Location Index, ELI) for quantifying the intensity of response capture, and shown how this measure can be articulated with a computational model \parencite[Diffusion Model for Conflict Tasks][]{Ulrich2015} to better understand the cognitive underpinnings of impulsivity \parencite{Servant2017}. It is natural to extend the work of team members on the conditions that can influence impulsivity in the light of these methodological advances. This new approach also raises new questions. Indeed, it is now possible to measure a subject’s impulsivity by means of an experimental task (e.g. a Simon task), and then to determine the extent to which his or her degree of impulsivity is linked to other cognitive functions. In particular, this method makes it possible to analyze the link between metacognitive abilities[fn:2] and impulsivity. To date, this is a totally unexplored field.
