Research project

The Mediterranean Network of Basin Organizations: an analysis of conflict-cooperation dynamics

Project summary

This project proposes to analyze MENBO and the activities developed within it since its creation, as well as its interactions with other players (networks, international bodies, non-governmental organizations), in order to understand how transboundary issues and water-related conflicts are addressed in the Mediterranean area. In no way does my starting point suggest considering MENBO as a monolithic entity, and the project will analyze in particular the relationship between MENBO and its secretariat, which corresponds to the Júcar River Basin Authority, the founding members, the other members and the absences.

The analysis will therefore focus first and foremost on the internal aspects of the network as a network of social actors, i.e. on the type of relationships between its members. It will also take into account the links of MENBO and its members with other water-related networks or groupings in the Mediterranean.
