Thinking from the bottom up, when the ground speaks
Project summary
In order to reflect on the soil and its importance for living beings on this earth with a view to artistic creation, I propose to approach the soil through the living beings that make it up and live in it, in collaboration with researchers in Soil Sciences and Natural Anthropology. In other words, to take the side and “point of view” of the soil as a living element: because I see here the possibility of a symbolic and philosophical dimension to reconnect man to the soil. Thinking and looking upwards, from the living soil to man.
Moreover, this proposal is based on the notion of Landscape, starting from Art, but considered as an ecosystem and above all as a set of contingent relationships between Humans and Non-Humans. Indeed, landscape and soil are intrinsically linked: by focusing on these “contingent relations”, always starting from the soil and moving towards man, I will be able to distinguish possible artifacts. The question of soil will thus be recontextualized by the means of art through a symbolic and metaphorical transformation. The work will be clearly situated in the field of art, but for our part, it will express itself at the frontiers of the natural and anthropological sciences, which are powerful catalysts of the imaginary.
