Accommodation
IMéRA is located in a big park in the heart of Marseille and comprises two buildings—a spacious three-storey house dating from the 19th Century, the Maison des Astronomes, and a large university building from the 1960s—as well as a three-bedroom flat.
Work on the site is planned and will be carried out in two phases, providing accommodation and work areas so that some fifteen residents can be housed in better conditions at IMéRA as of the start of the 2011 academic year.
The first phase (September 2009-February 2010) will involve work on the Maison des Astronomes and the three-bedroom flat; the second phase (2010-2011) will see work carried out on the university building.
Until Spring 2010, residents will be accommodated in a residential hotel, and the science laboratories in the region will provide working space for residents.
IMéRA management staff are currently occupying the first floor of the Maison des Astronomes, which they will vacate during the building work, relocating in offices in the university building.
The three-bedroom flat is available to young research teams until September 2009 and will be available once more in Spring 2010.
Three flats located on the third floor of the Maison des Astronomes will be open to residents in Spring 2010. The Maison will also include a seminar room and a large conference room on the ground floor, with lounges and management offices on the first floor.
The university building will be fully renovated for the start of the 2011 academic year, with a dozen lodgings, specific spaces for IMéRA projects and service and leisure areas.
